After Bell Market Wrap-up: 15th July 2021

The markets witnessed a fresh breakout today! In the early hours of the trading session, the market hit an all time high. Though the Japanese markets traded lower, the other Asian markets did pretty well. And to top it up, it was an amazing day for the Indian stock market. Sensex opened at 52,968.89 points and Nifty at 15,872.2 points. Rupee opened comparatively higher than the US Dollar.

A snippet of the markets today

  • Inshorts raised $60 million from its existing investor and Vy Capital.

  • On day 2 of the IPO, stocks of Zomato were subscribed 4.79 times, with the QIB portion being booked 7.06 times

  • Wipro, Tata Steel Long Products, Aditya Birla Money, Angel Broking, Larsen and Toubro Infotech and a few others released their quarterly results.

  • The Reserve Bank Of India has imposed restrictions on Mastercard Asia/ Pacific Pte. Ltd. from on-boarding new domestic customers.

Top gainers and losers of the day

L&T was one of the top companies that gained today. Owing to the rise of net profit of L&T Technology by 84%, stock prices rose by around 18%.  Hinduja global solutions stock price rose by 5% post a report announcing that Baring Private Equity would acquire a controlling stake in the company. Sequent Scientific stock price rose by 8% after receiving approval for tablets dosage form in Turkey. Post amazing Q1 results, stock prices of Happiest Minds jumped by almost 9%.

Dilip Buildcon stocks dropped by almost 4% after NHAI restrained it from participating in bids post-accident involving SPV.

As Rakesh Jhunjhunwala further reduces his stake to less than 5% in the company, Titan’s stock price seems to have been affected.

Final words

The market did cool down by the end of the day. Experts expected the Nifty to hit 16,000 points, but it seems like that event requires more time! Real estate seems to make a big comeback. By the end of the trading session, more than 480 companies were trading at their 52 week-high. Bitcoin was up nearly 1% and Ether surged over 4% today.
