CLAT 2024: Exam Date Released, Application Form, Eligibility Criteria

As per the recent Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) notification, CLAT 2024 will be conducted on 3 December 2023 (UG & PG). This means CLAT 2024 online applications will open anytime soon, along with the counselling process. 

The application forms for UG and PG courses will be available online at the official website. So, now the CLAT exam 2024 is all set to be conducted in more than 130 exam centres nationwide.

CLAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates seeking NLU admissions through CLAT 2024 must know their courses' eligibility criteria. Here's an overview:

Age limit

No age limit for admission to 5-year LLB courses.

There is no upper age limit.

Qualifying exam

Class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board of education/ university/ institute

A UG degree in law from a BCI-recognized law college/ University. 

Minimum marks Required

Candidates must have obtained at least, 

  • 45% marks for the General/ OBC category

  • 40% marks for SC/ ST categories

  • Who can apply for the CLAT 2024? 

Students applying should have cleared their Class XII or appeared for their Class 12 exams in the current year.

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced that CLAT 2024 will be held in December 2023 for admissions to the 5-year integrated BA, LL.B (Hons.), and LL.M. programmes. There are 22 participating NLUs.

  • What does the CLAT exam comprise? 

The exam is divided into five sections in CLAT UG: English, General Knowledge and Quantitative Techniques, Legal Reasoning, and Logical Reasoning, and in CLAT PG, the subjects include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, Labour & Industrial Law.

  • If a student is in his Class 12 & will give an exam in May 2023. Will he/ she be eligible for CLAT 2024? 

Yes, they will be! Anyone who will take their Class 12 exams in May 2023 can apply for this exam. 

  • If a student is from a Science background. Can he/ she apply for CLAT? 

Yes, this exam is open for all students, irrespective of their streams. 

  • How to fill out the CLAT application form?

Step 1: Visit the official website, i.e., https://consortiumofnlus.ac.in/

Step 2: On the Home page, click the link "REGISTER" to complete the registration process by entering your name and mobile number and setting a password.

Step 3: Enter the OTP received on the registered mobile number. This completes the registration process. 

Step 4: Log in to the portal using the registered mobile number and password. 

Step 5: Complete the application form by entering all the correct details.

Step 6: Upload necessary scanned images, documents, and signatures in the specified format.

Step 7: Pay the fee through the different online payment modes to complete the application process.
