Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) released the notification for IBPS PO 2023 on its official website on the 31st of July, 2023. This year a total of 3049 vacancies are announced for the recruitment of Probationary Officers in several public sector banks. All interested candidates can register online applications from 1st August 2023 until 21st August 2023.

IBPS PO Exam Eligibility 2023

To apply for IBPS PO 2023, candidates must satisfy these conditions:

  • Candidates must be an Indian citizen.

  • Graduate candidates from any discipline can apply for the exam

  • Age limit is between 20 and 30 years

  • Final year graduation candidates are not eligible to apply for the exam

  • Working knowledge of computer is mandatory to apply for IBPS PO 2023 exam

  • Verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT is desirable. 

  • The candidate must be able to read, write and speak the said language

How to apply for IBPS PO 2023?

IBPS PO application form 2023 will be released online comprising procedures like registration, uploading scanned photograph and signature, filling in basic details, personal details, educational qualification details, uploading the scanned handwritten declaration and left thumb impression.

  • The application fee is INR 850 for the General and OBC categories.

  • The application fee is INR 175 for SC/ST/PWBD candidates.

Definition

A general banking officer who undergoes a training period (probation) upon joining a public sector bank.

A banking professional with specialized skills and knowledge in a particular domain like IT, Marketing, HR, Law, etc.

Job Role

Handles general banking tasks like customer service, account management, and loan processing..

- Assigned to specific departments based on their specialization, e.g., IT Officer, Marketing Officer, HR Officer, Law Officer, etc.

Eligibility

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized university. Age limit typically between 20 to 30 years.

Educational qualifications differs as per the specific Specialist Officer post. Age limit typically between 20 to 30 years.

Selection

- IBPS PO exam consists of Preliminary and Main exams, followed by an interview. - 

- IBPS SO exam comprises a single online Main exam and an interview (in some cases). - 

Job Scope

POs have a broader scope & can be posted in different branches and departments of the bank.

SOs have a specialised scope & are posted in specific departments related to their specialization.

Career Path

They can become Assistant Managers, Managers, and even General Managers.

They may become Senior Officers or Chief Officers in their respective areas.

  1. IBPS PO Interview

This section carries a total of 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview are 40% and 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates.
