  • India currently produces 239 million tons (MMT) of milk

  • Country: Barbados

  • Conferred Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados

3/ International

3.1/ NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore & Sunita Williams return to Earth.

  • 5 June 2024: Starliner launched from NASA's Space Launch Complex-41, and docked with the International Space Station.

  • A minor helium leak in the propulsion system was detected before takeoff and during the journey

  •  Initially set for 18 June, the return was rescheduled on 2 July 2024 

  •  August 2024: NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov launched to the ISS on board the Dragon Freedom spacecraft.

  •  18 March 2025: Four members (NASA astronauts Nick Hague, Sunita Williams, Butch Wilmore & Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov) of the Crew 9 mission / down in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico near Tallahassee, Florida. 

DYK? Sunita Williams set a record by becoming the first woman astronaut to have the longest space walk (62 hours and 6 minutes).

3.2/ Letter of Intent (Lol) signed between India and Singapore

  •  Lol signed on collaboration during the ongoing Singapore Maritime Week (SMW). 

  •  Aim to promote Maritime digitalisation and decarbonisation with both Nations working towards reducing Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

3.3/ Declaration of the Official Language of the US

  • Language: English

  • The decision would help bring Unity to a nation with people from different backgrounds. 

DYK? This is the first time in United States history that the Federal government has officially declared a national language. 


4/ States

4.1/  The Language Debate

  • State: Tamil Nadu 

  •  The state government substituted the Indian rupee symbol ‘₹’ with the Tamil character ‘ரூ’ in its state budget for 2025 

  • Reason: to promote the Tamil language and resist the enforcement of Hindi. 

DYK? The official rupees symbol, ‘₹’, was designed by Uday Kumar, a tamilan and son of a former DMK MLA.

4.2/ First State to Establish Senior Citizen Commission 

  • State: Kerala

  • Aim:
    1. To safeguard the rights and welfare of elderly citizens.
    2. Also acts as an advisory body for policy making.

  • Composition: 
    1. The commission will consist of a chairperson and up to 3 members.
    2. One member will be a woman, while another will represent a Scheduled Caste or Schedule of Tribes.

DYK? According to the United Nations Population Fund, by 2036, 22.8% of Kerala's population will be aged 60 and above. 

4.3/ 1st Indian state to launch its own satellite

  • State: Assam

  • Name of the satellite: ASSAMSAT

  • Aim: two bolster data access for crucial social-economic initiatives and enhance Border Security 

  • Developed INSPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre) and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation)


5/ Schemes & Initiatives

5.1/ Samarth Program

  • Launched by: Centre  for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)

  • Aim: To foster innovation in the telecommunications and IT sector

  • Will support startups and innovators in Telecom Software Applications, Cybersecurity, 5G/ 6G, AI, IoT and Quantum Technology.

5.2/ Baalpan ki Kawita

  • Launched by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSE & L) under the Ministry of Education.

  • Aim: to preserve and promote Indian rhymes and poems for young children.

  • Compile a collection of nursery rhymes and poems in multiple Indian languages

6.1/ Exercise Indra 2025

  • Edition: 14th 

  • Countries: India & Russia

  • Host: Chennai (India)

6.2/ Exercise Sea Dragon

  • Naval Exercise

  • Location: Guam Coast ( Western Pacific Ocean) 

  • Hosted by: United Nations Navy's 7th Fleet.

6.3/ Launch of Indian Navy Frigate Tavasya

  • Part of Project: 1135.6

  • Launched by: Goa Shipyard Limited

  • Designed for multi-role combat operations across air, surface and sub-surface domains.

  • About Project 1135.6:

  1.  Class of stealth-guided missile frigates.

  2.  Built by Russia for the Indian Navy 

  3.  First vessel under the project: INS: Tushil (launched in 2021)
