CLAT 2025 Counselling & Admission
The entire CLAT 2025 counselling process, including registration, merit list publication, and seat allocation based on candidates' preferences, is conducted online. Once a seat is allocated, candidates have 3 options to proceed:
-
Accept the Seat ✅: By choosing this option, candidates confirm their seat at the allocated NLU. Once confirmed, the seat is secured, and they are not required to participate in further allotment rounds. Candidates can then proceed with the remaining admission formalities.
-
Apply for an Upgrade 🔄: Candidates opting for this choice wish to change their allocated seat to a higher preference. They will wait for the next allotment list and may be assigned a seat in their preferred college based on availability. Those opting for an upgrade remain active participants and must complete the remaining admission steps.
-
Exit from Seat Allotment ❌: Candidates can exit the counselling process if they no longer wish to participate in the current or future allotment rounds. Once exited, they cannot rejoin the counselling process for NLU admissions.
Then, to complete the process, the remaining admission fee must be paid to the assigned institute.
What is the CLAT counselling fee refund policy 2025?
-
Full Refund: If no seat is allotted after the 5th list, the fee (₹30,000/₹20,000) will be refunded.
-
Full Refund (Exit/Decline): If you exit the counselling process or decline all seats offered in the first 4 lists, the full fee (₹30,000/₹20,000) will be refunded.
-
Penalty Deduction: Post the 4th list, withdrawing will incur a ₹5,000 deduction as a penalty for blocking a seat.
-
Eligibility Refund: If found ineligible, ₹5,000 will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be refunded.
Freeze, Float & Exit Options in CLAT 2025 Counselling
Understanding the Freeze, Float, and Exit options in CLAT 2025 counselling is key to making the right decision for your future. Here's an overview of each option:
📌 Freeze:
If you choose the freeze option during the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd round of counselling, you are confirming your satisfaction with the seat allotted. By selecting this option, you secure your place at the NLU, and no further rounds of counselling will be needed.
To finalize your admission, you must pay the remaining university fee to the concerned NLU by 14 May 2025. This decision is final, indicating that you're content with your current seat allocation.
📌 Float:
The float option allows you to hold onto your current seat while keeping the possibility open for a better seat in the upcoming rounds. If you opt for this choice, your existing seat will be retained, but you will remain in the pool for future seat allotments.
If offered a better seat in the next round, you will automatically lose your previous seat and take the new one. If no better seat is allotted, you will retain your current seat.
📌 Exit:
Choosing the exit option means withdrawing completely from the counselling process. If you decide not to participate in any further rounds, this option will ensure your name is not considered in future allotments.
This is a final decision, and once you exit, you cannot re-enter the counselling process.
These options give you the flexibility to make the best choice based on your preferences and future opportunities during the CLAT 2025 counselling process.
