How are winners decided?

All voting members are eligible to nominate films for the best picture award, while nominations are typically made by members of the respective branch (for example, directors nominate other directors). All voting participants are qualified to cast their votes in any category once the nominees have been selected.

The academy has tried to diversify its membership in recent years, particularly in response to criticism over a wave of all-white acting nominees. Once a year, new members are added.

India and Oscars 2023

A history created with two major wins at the 95th Academy Awards or famously known as the Oscars Awards under the category of Original song and Documentary Short Subject. The “Naatu Naatu” song from the movie RRR got the Original song award; it’s the first ever song in the history of India which was awarded Oscars. Guneet Mongya’s Sikhya entertainment who produced The Elephant Whispers became the first-ever Documentary short subject to be awarded the Oscars.
